Hello,

in my BB , when i go out of the wifi range, the wifi icon on homescreen turns GREY

(without turning GRPS off)
as you see in the screen

which means = if i use BBM messaging it will cost me MONEY?

so how can i turn it into WHITE whenever i want?

Using BBM doesn't cost MONEY it takes bytes out of your data allowance.
This is true whether on GPRS or wi-fi.

If you are out of range of the router, and the icon goes grey, then you need to move back in range of the router.
You cant make it white, if out of range of router.

No, its takes minutes to connect to RIM's servers, thats why the icon doesn't turn white immediately. Its not instant.

If you have a Blackberry data plan, then generic data means nothing.
Its the Blackberry data plan that lets you use BBM.
A generic data plan wouldn't let you use BBM or any other software.
You have a BLACKBERRY DATA PLAN so FORGET ABOUT GENERIC DATA.

Facebook and BBM are only going to "cost" you in terms of your data allowance not actual money.
Also, they won't cost you in data unless you USE them.

For example, you send a message on BBM, its size is 2KB. 2KB will come from your (lets say 500MB a month) 500MB allowance.
Leaving you with 498MB.
If you leave the house and keep data on, but DO NOT use BBM or Facebook, or browse the internet, you are NOT using data. Nothing will come out of your data allowance.

thanks for the explaination

i have more questions about blackberry data plan

having the blackberry data plan means that i can use all the internet stuff in my bb (browsing, fb, google, gps and bbm)
without connecting via WI-FI ?

if i use any of the softwares above without WI-FI , then it will spend some of the data bytes,

and if i use them with WI-FI , it won't use the data?

or either ways i use with WIFI or not - then if i pass the monthly limits of Mbytes , it will charge me for each byte after that?
* i hope i made my questions clear *

Yes.

Yes.

BBM and email may as they are using RIM's servers. But facebook, internet, google etc won't use data bytes.

If your carrier charges for bytes use after allowance is used, then yes. That you would need to check with your carrier.
