Default Can Blackberry support more than one Exchange servers?

Please Login to Remove!

My company asked me to find out if Blackberry can support more than one Exchange server at a given time. Some of our clients have asked if we can provide the Blackberry service for them without them necessarily having to buy any new equipment, so my boss asked me to find out how possible this is, if email forwarding is a practical solution.

Thanks.

Yes, one BES can have mailboxes from more than one Exchange server, but they must all be in the same Organization. Also, it makes sense for BES to by located close to the Exchange servers.

Which part needs further clarification? If you are unsure what is meant by NJBlackBerry's post, then you may already be in a little over your head.

What research have you done on your own? Have you read through the BES documentation at all? A little due diligence is required on your part.

The scenario is simple really: my company has a BES server, and want to 'sublet' usage of that service to our clients. Which means probably having multple Exchange servers. I have been to RIM's site and got no suitable explanations to the following question:
1) Can a BES support multiple remote domains?

Are the Exchange servers in question within the same Exchange Organization? If so, then yes.
This was already answered.

As NJBlackBerry also suggested... you will want to have the BES as "close" to the Exchange servers as possible. If this involves remote WAN links, then those links should be reliable and low latency... preferably 35ms or lower.

Hi NJ,

As you said that one blackberry server can have multiple exchange servers (in the same organisation) . We have blackberry server with exchange server in the same office now we have installed another exchange server in a remote city but within the same organisation. Kindly provide the complete details how can i associate the new exchange server with the existing blackberry server. If there is any link or document kindly suggest.

Thanks in advance

Regards,

Shekhar

The BESAdmin account needs to have permissions on any Exchange server that you plan to add users from. The BES has a MAPI subsystem which allows it to communicate with with any Exchange server within that Exchange Org. As long as permissions are set correctly the BES will work.
