Default any current blackberry with as good a daylight screen as the 7290?

Please Login to Remove!

hi,

please forgive me if this is a FAQ, but i was unable to find the answer to this question in the bbf faq or by searching all the forums. I've also been Googling for what seems like weeks, all to no avail

i love my 7290's sunlight/outdoor screen reflectivity, and i need to upgrade, since i recently killed my 7290 (just the radio part -- the rest still works, interestingly enough).

i've been frustrated trying to get help from RIM on this -- i have had a question in with them for several months now in their support department, and they simply will not answer the question, apparently.

my question is: is there a blackberry sold currently, whose screen is as good in direct sunlight as the 7290's is?

i've put my 7290 next to an at&t phone store representative's 8310, outside in direct sunlight after she said the 8310 was good outside, so we tried it. The difference was literally like night and day. The 7290 got BETTER in direct sunlight, while her 8310 was just a joke in comparison (please forgive me, all 8310 owners )

I live in Southern California, and it's simply very bright here and I'm outdoors a lot and I use my phone outside a lot. Heck, even when in someone's car travelling to Vegas, or on a bus getting to work: it's just plain BRIGHT. So i need a phone with an excellent REFLECTIVE display.

Does anyone either

1 ) know a current Blackberry which has as good an OUTDOORS screen as the 7290?

or

2) know another company's phone (or even just a simple PDA without phone!) whose screen is as good OUTDOORS as the 7290's?

This is really frustrating.. I would very much like to keep the 7290's excellent OUTDOOR screen, but move up to a newer model. If I can't find one, then I guess I'll just have to buy another 7290 off of Ebay..

Thanks for any help/ideas/answers..! i will be most appreciative to hear from anyone else who has had this problem, and hear how they solved it.

Jeff

I don't think you're going to find anything these days that has that same type of screen. I think my 8830 is very good in the sunlight, but sometimes I have to turn a little if the sun is beating directly down on the screen. I think most people would rather have an excellent screen for reading emails and general day to day use, rather than have a screen that you can read when you're standing in the sun, but looks bad other times. (Compared to the newer models) Just my $.02.

But I guess if you're a lifeguard or something like that, maybe reading it in the sun is more important that the quality of the screen.

Good luck

While the 7290 may have been slightly better outdoors, the screens on current devices are so much better. When I look at my old 7290 it looks black and white in comparison.
