Welcome to BB Forums.
I have never seen nor heard of any program that will allow you to connect the BB to a PC and send SMS through it.

You can log onto your BIS and send text messages from there. No need to hook up the BB either.

There is a program which claims to do this with a mac and some phones over bluetooth. It has a phone support list and says that BBs can't do it. I don't know WHY, I never gave it another look after that.

you can do it to AIM. you CANNOT send any SMS through the BIS site unless its new in BIS 2.5 that i havent seen. but SMS and BB works off of an entirely differrent server and network so idk how that would even work

I think what the previous poster meant was that you can send SMS through logging into My T-Mobile. There's widgets for Macs that claim to be able to send them through Bluetooth but I've never managed to make them work.

Oh, you're right. I just checked and it is only to other T-Mobs customers.

That is correct, you can use it through mytmobile, not sure if the text can be sent to other carriers. I believe you can do this with verizon as well, at least that is what I was told from a friend.

I have a Dashboard Widget on my Mac that lets me send SMS messages to any cell phone number. There simply HAS to be an equivalent program for Windows.

Google lets you send sms. Google "send sms" for the link. It should be the first result.
