Default How's memory management on 4.5?

Please Login to Remove!

I cleared out enought stuff to have 22 MB's of free space on my BB and I am just curious how much larger is OS 4.5 then 4.2.2, I mean Docs To Go and all the other extra features must take up a bit more extra space.

(Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to get an 8330 )

I started at about 4 MB less than when I moved to 4.5.

One poster suspects that the status indicator may not be correct.

I installed 4.5 OS for my 8320 (Orange release) and my memory was lower then with OS 4.2. However, I deleted a bunch of stuff before upgrading so I am still doing better on memory. I would definatley upgrade if you can, its worth it!!

Options > File Free.

I have experienced about the same memory leak performance as with 4.2... not a biggie.

Memory leaks usually occur from 3rd party applications. I've noticed no differences between 4.2 and 4.5.

As for 4.5 taking up more space, yes it most definitely does. The added features like Docs to Go (2.2MB,) video camera, OTA upgrades, and many other upgrades will use some of that memory.

So the smaller devices are not suitable for some of the newer OS upgrades if available.
