8900 Discrepencies

I have an 8900. I had issues with the trackball not scrolling down, which happened just 2 hours after receiving it. It spent no time in a pocket, just in its box when not being set up. I exchanged the 8900 for a new one, and now this one is sluggish and hourglasses a lot. I had originally used desktop manager to switch devices, but thought this might have been the cause of the sluggishness. So I wiped the device and reinstalled everything ota, vs through the manager. It's still sluggish. My first 8900 with its intermittent trackball issues aside, was blazing fast. This second 8900 is so different. Can anyone think of anything I am doing wrong?
