I thought the RIM BlackBerry 8830 had a SiRF Star III LT chipset and not a Qualcomm (gpsONE?) chipset?

What somebody needs to do is take a verizon based 8830 apart and photograph the chips that are on the circuit board. Most SiRF chips have the SiRF "Atom" logo embossed on the surface.

Someone please do this, the misinformation is driving me crazy!

Sincerely,
Firefishe

He and his technical rep, who was on conference with me, both said that GPS will function anywhere in the world, just not through VZ Nav.

I will believe it when I see it, but they wanted to still have a meeting with me even though we told them we already went with AT&T.
do you honestly belive, that after making the biggers purchase of 8830's from rim to get gps disabled, making rim, fix their advertising to it, etc, they are gonna enable it? lets be honest here.

Honestly, if they;re guilty of misleading and/or false advertising, then YES! By all means should they be prosecuted. Just because a company is large does not mean anything regarding legal proceedings. Just look at Enron as an example. Only thing with Enron, there should've been more moola going to the people who were hurt the most.

We simply have to put a stop to all the nonsense that goes on with business these days and get it into people's heads that we are all part of a community and expect to be treated fairly and decently, and not lied to or scammed.

etc.
