I would like to get a bold or storm to use with my alltel plan. Is it possible to get an unlocked one to work with alltel?

Alltel uses CDMA technology. You can't unlock a CDMA device for use with other carriers. Nor will a GSM based Bold work with CDMA.

If you wait a bit, once Alltell becomes fully integrated into Verizon, you will be able to get the 9530 Storm.

True. You will be a Verizon customer soon anyway. Just upgrade when they take you in.

I called about transferring and they said I had to wait until my alltel contract was up. I figured they would let me transfer early to eliminate the old alltel customers and plans.

Also, do a search on the terms 9530, Storm, and Alltel.

Since the buyout, some people have been able to make Verizon devices work on Alltel.

And if that method doesn't work for you, you will be able to upgrade to a new phone without the ETF 120 days before the end of your contract. But you will have to change to a Verizon plan. You will not be able to keep your Alltel plan with a Verizon device.
