Hey guys i got my BB (7100i) about a week ago and when i receive messages it doesn't say who its from.... unless my friends remember to put their name at the end like i asked... and i cannot compose sms messages as well so i was wondering if i was to run a different service providers firmware if it would allow me to? Because there are some glitches with email my friends sms phones as well.

Wow, I can't believe that this is still going on.

I was using a BlackBerry on the Telus Mike Network a couple years ago
and had the exact problem. It is a Telus issue. At the time I was using it,
they told me that they know about the problem but there is nothing they could do.
I'm surprised that after 2 years that they still havent fixed this problem

If you put your SIM in a Motorola i-Series phone SMS will work in my experience.

I just called Telus and they told me that this is still an ongoing issue. Are they serious?? Apparently it works fine for the PCS clients on BB?

Yup friend of mine has a Telus PCS BB and he can send and receive messages just fine. And i can send and receive messages just fine when i use my i870 but when i use my 7100i BB but I can't compose sms and i cannot see the sender of an sms i receive. Kinda a piss off and almost tempting to leave Mike once my contract is up. SMS is a big part of my usage.

I believe the blackberrys on iden networks get this issue. with the 7100i nextel or the 7520 with 4.1 OS though they have the option to mms and they should show up with the numbers
