Default water problem

Please Login to Remove!

So by pure bad luck my phone was knocked out of my hand and fell right into my glass of water. Now it wont turn on. When I put the battery in the red light goes on and then off and on and off again over and over. Anyone have a suggestion since i know i cant get a replacement for water damage? And if it is the end of this phone does anyone know if I can buy a replacement from tmo for less then whatever it is?

Got Your BlackBerry Wet? - BlackBerryFAQ.com

Chances are you will not get it replaced by your carrier for free - possibly a lower price though.

Wirelessly posted (8320: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I'm assuming that you didn't get the insurance on it.. I broke my 7105 a couple years ago without insurance and I was able to get a lower price on a new one (it took several calls tho).. A better bet might be to check the buy/sell section of the forum or ebay

there is a good chance that you fried it when you installed the battery and tried to turn in on. Just follow the instructions that Paul gave above and do not rush them. You might still be ok.

Did you read the thread posted? If you remove the battery for 4 or 5 days and place the device somewhere warm (Back of a TV on a cable box, etc.) It may very well work. Your odds were reduced when you put the battery in and tried to turn it on. BB and water is not big deal. BB, water and electricity (aka battery) very bad news. Just let it dry and let's hope for the best. We will all have our fingers crossed for you! Nothing sadder than seeing a BB die an un-natural way!

Also, once the drying is done, it sounds like the OS may need to be reinstalled. The flashing red indicator light without a lit screen indicates a problem reading the OS or the bios or something like that (didn't write it down when BB tech support told me). Sometimes this can be fixed using JL_Cmdr to wipe then reinstalling the OS.
