Default Hosted BES / Carrier / SRP issues

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I've searched high and low for an answer and am now hoping that your collective wisdom can help me. Please let me know if I'm posting in the wrong place.

I am based in Abu Dhabi and our hosted BES server is in the UK. My Carrier is Etisalat.

Wireless Enterprise Activation keeps failing and I think (but am not certain) that the problem is that I have BIS on my plan, but not BES. In order to activate BES, Etisalat require the SRP identifier or they say that activation will not work. However, my hosted BES provider refuses to give this to me for two reasons: 1) apparently it is unnecessary and 2) it would be a major security breach on their servers.

I am clearly stuck in the middle between my BES host and my carrier, but I have no idea how to get this resolved. I cannot get Etisalat and my host provider to talk to each other. Strangely, I am now seeing the wisdom of having an in-house IT department...

Who is telling me the truth, the carrier or the host, and does anyone have any ideas as to how to get this resolved?

Many thanks!

Certainly as far as I am concerned the end user is not given the SRP, and that's even for those users who are not based in the UK and are sourcing their BB from a local carrier. Why your carrier should be asking for the SRP escapes me.
