Probably less than $300 or so with a 2 year. $350-400 with a 1 year. Just a guess. Maybe someone who has already ordered one can say, or else you may just have to wait until it hit's Verizon's website.

so what's the deal or process for normal customers with non-business rep contact?
anyone?

I also heard 5/25 date instead of 5/28 for the store release. Which is correct?

Ok, here's the deal, if you are a psycho like myself and must have the newest of the new then this is what you do: call tele sales and add a line for an additional $10 a month, then the phone only costs you 199.00 instead of 516.00 plus tax for full retail. Then if you must just cancel the new line and even you pay the termination fee it still only runs you 375.00.... Bargain if you ask me...

Junior...that is a really good idea. Sealbdw... I had to go through our bus. rep. diretly to get the phone. I asked her if she coulf help everyone but she said that it had to be a business account for her to help. She did say that if you you get the right Cust. Service rep for personal lines they should be able to find a way to get around the bus. restriction. As far as nobody being able to get them unitl the 28th i just recieved an e-mail with tracking number for Fedex. Should be delivered tomorrow....(Hopefully)

i'm going back and forth from here to howard, so i apologize if this sounds redundant...just got off the phone, you can get it as an additonal line for $299 plus mail in-rebate which brings it to $199, you have 15 days to cancel the plan...that is the loop hole and or work around it seems

Ordered mine from the 1-800 number on the website. Our business rep is out of the office today (plus, he's pretty near useless anyway), so I just went ahead and called. Sat on hold for a while, but they didn't give me a hard time about the order at all. It's getting added as an additional secondary line on my family share plan, with int'l roaming (I'm headed to the Caribbean in two weeks; I'll drop back to domestic only when I return), and they gave it to me for $399, less $50 (because it's a secondary line, not a primary), less $100 MIR. The only problem I had is that they won't ship to the non-billing address, which means I may need to chase out to the FedEx center to pick it up when it arrives.

I'll post a review when I get it, including a comparison to the Cingular 8800 that I'm using now. Judging by the PCMAG benchmarks, it isn't too much slower despite having a much slower CPU...the performance bottleneck must be someplace else.

I ordered mine today over the phone. Called the number (corp service and I am not a corporate customer although my workplace does receive a discount) and was able to order. I upgraded my phone (my first berry! Hurray!) and will receive it on Weds. VZ's pricing was $399.99 w/o discounts or rebates, which they are offering here in the West. Got it for $99 w/2 year contract.

Typically if you cancel the line, you have to return the phone, or pay full retail for it. So that's not that good of a deal anymore.

Correct, thats the point of the early term fee, it's generally the difference between the promotional price we pay to the full reatil. Free phone usually cost aroud 150-175, the general price of the term fee. 199 for the 8830, 175 early term fee 199 price+175 term fee=374, add that to the 100 rebate third party rebate and your right in line with the full retail price. Thats why there is a term fee and if you pay retail, you dont have a contract!!!

Also to answer an early question i ordered the phone from the general telesales number...

Wirelessly posted (mikeBerry 7130e: BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

Hmm... Not sure I understand here...

Full retail is $519...
If I add a line to my account, I get it for $199...
Where does the $100 rebate come from?

And if I want to weasel out of the full retail, wouldn't I be looking at:
$199 + $175(ETF) = $374?

Under what circumastances would that _not_ be correct?

Thanks!

I don't know. While I have access to a corporate rep at my workplace, my account is a personal, individually-billed account that I've had since long before I started working here. I called the 800 number on Verizon's 8830 website (www.verizonwireless.com/blackberry), waited on hold an interminable amount of time, and then placed the order. I was never asked for my employer, a corporate account number, or anything that would have indicated that they are concerning themselves with business vs. individual accounts. I'd give it a shot and see what happens. The worst off you can be is waiting until the end of the month, which is where you are now anyway.
