I would say no as well. Why put out a phone to compete with your other world phone. When that makes it more valuable to some. Thats the only selling feature it has over the curve.

I'll stir the pot a little.

This weekend I went in to the local Verizon store to get a Blackberry. I was unhappy with the xv6800 & i760 Windows mobile devices I tried, so I cancelled them a little while back. I've been really wanting to have my email, so I thought I'd sign up again and get a Blackberry.

I had pretty much told the sales woman I wanted the 8830 and she confirmed they had some in stock. Then I asked the sales woman if she had heard any rumors about the Curve.

She said "We are DEFINITELY getting it in April."

I said "Oh really? I'd rather just wait until April then and get that when it comes out."

Sales woman: "You could just upgrade in April."

Me: "Yes, but then I would have to pay full price."

At this point she completely changes her tune and says "Let me confirm for sure that we ARE getting the curve in April." She asks a couple of other associates standing around and they both give a look like "we have no clue!". I think she just blatantly lied to me about the whole thing. haha...

Thats why I dont ask sales people anything. They will do or say anything to make a sale. I know not all are like this but most fit that mold.

Some confirmed info from HoFo (I posted, any questions about my rep, ask their VZW forum mods). This info has been known for some time now, and if it's been posted here already, I apologize:

Quote:
- Release is targeted in April with VZW pushing for late March.

- It does have GPS, but the test versions so far have all been locked to VZ Navigator.

- It will not be WiFi capable.

- The release color scheme will be the same as the color above (titanium and black). This has been confirmed that while there may be other colors, this will be the release color.

- In terms of size, it is as identical to the GSM version as CDMA can get.

- This will not be a World Edition Device.

- It will be EVDO capable, but it is not known/has not been posted yet whether it will be REV A.

- The exact pricing is not known/has not been posted yet.

- It is, of course, QWERTY.

- It will be high capacity micro SD capable.

Amen to that. Unfortunately, no matter how many times that fact is posted, people just don't want to listen.

Even if it did have wifi, it wouldn't matter on Verizon's network. You have to have their data plan regardless on Blackberry devices.

Some things work with just wifi and some things don't. Specific Blackberry apps like email, pin messaging require the data plan. Browsing is possible and some apps can use wifi with no data plan.

I was at Circuit City yesterday and stopped by the Verizon kiosk in the store. There were about 10 Verizon corporate-looking people standing around and I started talking to one of the regular sales people. I asked if and when they are getting the curve and he never heard of it. One of the corporate people overheard and said that they will confirm that it's coming, but didn't know the date. Then she said "well, even if I knew, I couldn't tell you that I knew." So I said I'm hearing April 4th, and she looked at me quickly with surprise, like "yep, that's it." She was so hot...

what ^ said. VZWs network also auto activates the data plan on the BB devices anyway, same with nTelos and some of the smaller CDMA carriers.
