I assume it is locked by T-Mobile.

What exactly does it mean "the device does not require activation with T-Mobile?"

Some people sell devices at a discount BUT then require you to active service thru them. I am just selling the device without requiring a contract to be signed – No strings attached. This makes it very convenient for people who already have service with T-Mobile and for people who need new service, they just need to contact T-Mobile or an agent directly.

Oh...sorry...that should have been pretty obvious. Must be getting late again. G'night.

Only Cingular Blackberry's come unlocked out of the box. Wish other carriers would follow suit on this practice. Sure would make getting a deal on a Blackberry much easier!

I have been told that T-Mobile will provide the unlock codes upon request.

T-Mobile will offer unlock code after around 60-90 days of use, if you have a valid contract and the account is in good standing.
