I was told by one of my contacts from India that dealers are selling the Pearl with skype in them... don't know if this is true, but is there a skype version for the 8100... I checked the skype website did not find anything... any comments appreciated...

There is no such thing as skype calls on blackberry, may be they should have referred to skype chatting via some Instant Messaging client and not skype calls.
Skype (or any VoIP) requires at least 30kbps(iLBC or GSM codec) of bandwidth of short response time which is not feasible with the GPRS/EDGE connections that we have (they can send a group of packets but not continously)
If you are looking for free international calling I have accessed JAJAH - web-activated telephony from the pearl and can initiate free calls from that site...
I just tried Jajah and it worked fine on my Pearl. They give you a 5 minute free trial before you have to register. I looked at their privacy policy, though, and it is pretty liberal regarding the sharing of your information. Also, I wouldn't make any kind of sensitive calls security-wise. For calling my mother in another country, though, this could be a very interesting service. One note - it is actually not free to call many countries. The rates are reduced, however.
Thanks guys. The rates on Jajah are good but not what I am paying through regular calling cards... I normally call Asian countries... Jajan works like Vonage or Skype... but anyway, appreciate the feedback
