Default "Data Connection REfused"

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Folks,

I finally decided to splurge on the Pearl and so far i have been happy. The one thig that bothers me is on the Home screen on the top bar there is a label that says "Data Connection Refused", I assume this is because i have no dataplan.

How do i go abouts of removing this? At one time it would just say my carrier "Rogers Wireless".

Thanks,
STeve

Yes..that is why you are getting a data connection refused banner. Unfortunatley, there is no way to remove that (well, unless you get a data plan).

THanks everyone. I found a way to turn this off. If you go to Options-> Network-> you can turn the data connection ON/OFF.

I turned it off and it no longer says that.

I don't get it. Why would you buy a BB and not have a data plan? Without it, it's just a cell phone right? Buy a RAZR!

Did i mention my carrier doesn''t offer BB dataplans.

My girlfriend has an 8700 and she does not have the data plan... I have it because I use apps that need it like Berry411, BBWeather, PocketDay Sports, ect....

She uses her 8700 for text, calendar, 2do ect...

She can care less about surfing the net on it or about getting her email..

So to each their own... I actually know a few people who have BB's and no data plan...

..Another way is to turn off the Wireless connection and turn it back on. This will reset your connectivity.

I'm guessing that he bought a Rogers branded Pearl and he has Fido service. That's just a guess.
