Default BerryTunes - internet radio, no skips!! (+ Podcasts)

Please Login to Remove!

I've been looking for a good internet radio app off and on. Tried MFRadio, the Dollar5 player, and a couple others. None of them could really deliver smooth, skip-free playback.

Now I think I've found one that does - Berry Tunes (current version is 2.5.2) appears to be the real deal.

There's an internet radio thread in the General forum that has some discussion that includes Berry Tunes. That's where I first read about it and tried it.

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...net-radio.html

Hands down the best internet radio player I've used, in terms of smooth, skip-free playback. I've a few, including Dollar5, MFRadio, and others, and none of them came close to Berry Tunes in terms of smooth playback.

Berry Tunes has a rudimentary (and sometimes annoying) UI, but is simple to use. Where it matters most, actually playing back stations w/out skipping and losing contact, it seems to be the real deal. It also plays Podcasts, tried a few, seemed to work well, as well as various audio and video formats.

Cost is $25...a relatively large chunk of change, unfortunately. There's a 7 day trial available. OTA link here...it's available for sale from Handango and other BB SW sites.

When I try to use the radio after I check the type of music I want to listen to, I get an error message saying that there is an invalid APN, and to check my options under the TCP. I did that, but it's what it's always been; "www.voicestream.com", and no name or password.
Any ideas what's wrong?

That's correct - T-Mobile's APN is wap.voicestream.com

I like berrytunes and use it almost everyday. Some streams work better than other but you have a large selection. The good news is there's no monthly charge like xm and I think the music quality is better, maybe xm got better. It also like 4.5 OS.

You know, that's what I like about this site. With that answer you all gave me, you not only solved this problem, but 3 others I had because I had 2 little letters wrong, and had all but gave up on.
Thanks a million!

Berrytunes plays audio files, and streams radio stations and podcasts.

You can use it to play audio files w/out buying/registering.

I thought that streaming radio and podcasts would allow a 7-day trial and then stop if you didn't buy/register.

What are you using it for - just MP3s, or ?

When I downloaded it awhile back, and before I went to OS .81, I had the trial too that I listened to the radio for about 3 weeks as well. The only reason I think it stopped was that I upgraded OS, and when I reinstalled xPlayer, I only got a week out of the radio before I was shut down. I think it's just a fluke.
I'm actually using Moodio now. It doesn't buffer as much, plus I can add stations that listen to police/fire & airports. It's just more stable.
I do miss the music player though.

BerryTunes has an update available - version 2.5.7.

It's available from:

BerryTunes 2.5

You can also just use the "Update" option in BerryTunes if you already have it installed.

So far I've found that the update makes connections even more robust under OS 4.5 (haven't tried in 4.3, but assume same benefit there). Quick loading and smooth playing.

Very nice...
