Question Streaming video to my bold from Intrepid

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I have a ubuntu (8.10 - Intrepid Ibex) machine that I have some mpeg4 encoded home videos on. I'd like to be able to stream them to my BlackBerry Bold. I'm wondering if there is some kind of streaming media server product that can expose an entire directory to the web (like apache's "directory listing" setting) so I can see these files and watch them on my smartphone. Assume that the files change too frequently for me to waste time posting links every time I add one.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

what streaming formats does the BB support?
if it works over http it is definitely possible, anything might still work with the proper server

Hey, I stream videos to my curve from my Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 LTS. I also use my Linux box like a slingbox for watching BBTV . I use Darwin QTSS (Quicktime Streaming Server) for both live RTSP streaming and static streams. If you have a 64bit sys and run Hardy, I can send you the *.deb that I created using checkinstall. I use FFMPEG to encode the files or mpeg4ip to encode/create the sdp file for live streams. I haven't discovered too many (if any) documented reliable methods online so if you have questions and you like to *tinker*, just ask.
