Default Remote Desktop with Blackberry Professional Server

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All,
I just installed Blackberry Prof Server on my exchange 2003 box. Got the one included cal working with an 8100 no issues.
My Question is if I purchace and install a RDP client will I be able to access corporate resources from a device or does that only work with Enterprise?

Thanks In Advance
Mark

You answered your own question.

You can use TCP/IP still.

Not really I am still little unclear. If I am accessing my corporate intranet from a device(which I can do) am I using tcp/ip or the MDS service that is running on the Blackberry Professioanl Server and if its the MDS should a rdp client work?? before I blow any cash that may not get reimbursed I would like to have a better understanding

D/L a trial to test it and let us know if it works.

Only thing you lose is a little time.

They have an 800 number?

I called them on their 800 number and guess what they said.

We have had customers use our applications with the Blackberry Professional server. Thank you for your call.

I use Rovemobile's mobile remote file program as well as their mobile desktop.. both work great.. (my company bought the mobile desktop when the company was called Idokorro and it was only $45 bucks! now it's like $90 dollars.. RIP OFF.)

I can access shared network drives using the file manager, and rdp into the BES and do maintenance (edge is SO SLOW) if in DIRE need.

You can use the mobile desktop via TCP/IP, which is the only real way to do it anyway. If you are on a BES and try using it, you will get booted after about 5 minutes because of the stupid data limitation that BES puts on each MDS connection. TCP/IP you can stay connected as long as you need to.

You can contact your BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrator and request that your perxxx8208;connection data limit be raised to the maximum allowed.

You can also choose connection settings that use less data, such as the Desktop Size.

You can also RTFM.

Yes, but the maximum is 1024 and that still isn't much. It's a stupid limitation by blackberry that hopefully the next version of BES will have the option to disable.

Check PM mbell

Yes its a crappy limitation, but does not affect me yet.
I think a WM PDA might be better with a stylus.

knottyrope, I suggest you tone down the junior high attitude a notch. While we appreciate your contributions to the forum, the insults are certainly not welcome.
