OK I just got my Cingular BB8700c last week so maybe my BB-fu is weak.

I accessed your page OTA using the Blackberry Browser and downloaded the brushed metal and carbon fiber themes using the OTA links. They seem to have downloaded OK, but do not show in the "Themes" list under the "Options" section.

Do I have to do something to make them visible ?

Thanks!

Not sure but you may also need the theme_reader.jad file also in order for your bb to see those new themes.

srl7741 was right. I downloaded the Plazmic Theme Reader from http://www.millenniastudio.com/bbota.html and can see the themes now.

While holding the shift key press the wheel in and then a mini menu at top right of screen will give you options (on most icons) to move or hide. If you select Move the icon will move with the wheel. etc.

WOOT! I did it.. I know how to take 3rd party apps and make the icons invisible, both completely and particly.

I have the proof with the vNES program. http://www.lucky7dvds.com/wap/invis.html

Mind you - this proggie runs slow as you know what..

PM me or post your .jar links and files that you want done and I will make them as little and as much opec as you want.. I can make them completely Gone, or 40% like the current.

I think I got it figured out how to make them focus'd back into color as well - someone download that file and let me know - my OTA with the 7100i is not working for whatever reason.

OK well good news is yes - I can make the third party apps out of focus or totally invisible. Bad news - I cant seem to make them come into focus, adding a _focus.png file does not seem to work - SO for now I can still make them transparent and hopefully I will be able to figure out how to make them visable - currently I have to have the .jar file as the .jad file does not hold the icons so that I can change them, though I have ideas.

Well - ok for WHAT EVER REASON - my site does not support ota - anyone that can help - thoughts?

I updated the site with an alx and cod for the vnes proggie as a proof of concept that I can change the icons from the little bunny to a clear icon, hell I will make him 40% if people need / want proof.

Bad news again I cant create a focus icon - i am working on that.

I wonder just how many third party App developers use differenciate between focus and non-focus Icons. That requires two different input files when building the app, I woulld assume.

Hope this helps.

Default 8700 Tulips

This is a spring theme. The photos are from the tulip farms in Skagit Valley of Washington State. (the Plazmic jpeg blow-up issue really forced a compromise in image quality by using low-color depth png...).

Download from the 8700 Theme page off the main BlackBerry page at:

http://www.millenniastudio.com/blackberry.html

Or, use OTA for direct install:

Top 10 list:

1. Read the documentation/manual/Help files
2. Examine the samples folder, pay close attention to sizes.
3. Find a 3rd party graphic program to use. Elements, Psp or alike.
4. Start simple
5. Test b4 posting (saves headaches later)
6. When changing icons look at the catigory and ask yourself? Does this icon fit? (don't use a printer icon where an email icon needs to be)
7. If posting try to specify which model it's for and include a screen shot.
8. Did i mention start simple?
9. Start simple
10. Most important! Have fun. Let your imagination run amuck and as always mill about smartly.

my 1/2 cents worth

After that it looked just as it did on the image you posted here. Good work. One question, with the themes that you download, is there a way that you can change the font of the menu text. I tried to go into Options-Screen/Keyboard and do it, but it had no effect on the theme.

Blue

the fonts are all chosen by the themer (me). However we cannot change the font of the network or the clock on the main screen.

I have been a bit busy lately, working on weekends and such. I will update some themes and release some new ones.

I do not want to give out the theme files, because i do not want people going and selling my shit on handango

In addition to what srl7741 posted, there is a forum on Plazmic's site that may help. For example, the developers can sometimes confirm a bug or other issue you are having so that you don't go nuts trying to solve something you can't.

My other comments would be to consider how the icon overlay works with 3rd party applications. You can't modify them but your icon overlay can compensate in some ways. If you plan to make OTA installing available (I see 10:1 OTA installs off my site compared to app installer downloads), research your web server to that you can properly prepare it to enable OTA.
