What is your choice when, no unlock code can be found. I tried both companies in this posting and neither could locate a code

RIM database, we also offered you the option to go there. 95% of not found codes are in that database.

I dont understand something here. Everyone is running around trying to get an unlock code and pay for it. Why dont you just call your phone provider like tmobile or att or whatever and ask for it - they have a turn around of 72 hours to get it to you. Why are you all wanting to pay for it?

I have called my provider 3 times and have never had a problem getting unlock codes for any of my phones in the past.

Just wondering........because I dont like throwing away money.

Because many people buy BlackBerrys which are from other carriers that they don't have accounts with. If you buy a T-Mobile BB off of eBay and want to use it on AT&T, and you don't have a T-Mobile account, they won't help.

Default Unlock

Just contact your T-Mobile and they will have to unlock the BlackBerry Flip because it is the law.

I didn't know that it was a law for any wireless carrier to provide an unlock code for their devices. I always thought that a person had to have service with the carrier for 90 days, and have an account that was in good standing in order for the carrier to provide the unlock request.

The policy varies by carrier, but the policy you stated is held by T-Mobile USA.

The law is vague/gray/murky/muddy or whatever word you feel like using for unclear at this point.

Could someone please give a reference to the law (not a corporate policy) on unlocking subsidized mobile phones.

Thanks.

Reminds me of the discussion that you will "violate your warranty" if you upgrade the OS on your phone to a version that was not released by your carrier. That was BS also.

I was a little skeptical at first, but I decided to bite the bullet. The guys at Horizon are AWESOME! I had my code with 2 hours. I couldn't wait to get home to jam my wife's sim card into the phone to see what would happen. (She's with Fido and it loaded up fine. Except for the data connection.)

I would totally recommend Horizon if you want to unlock your phone!
