Default Version 7.1 arrived on my 9900 today. Sort of.

Please Login to Remove!

Been checking "Options" in my 9900 for updates lately, and today the 7.1 update was finally sitting there!

Only problem is when I try to download it I get the error message "Update request failed. Try again later or update using BB Desktop Manager on your computer".

Only problem is that the 7.1 software isn't on either the T-mobile site or the BB Update site -- so much for "using BB Desktop Manager".

A call to T-Mobile and BB brought the usual confusion. T-Mobile said the download was sent by BB, (i.e. it's their issue) and BB said T-Mobile sent the update (i.e. it's THEIR issue).

Anyone else find the update on their 9900? Any luck downloading it?

You can always manually download the latest version from the links here and then delete vendor.xml on your PC and install it.

Has anyone else received the 7.1 update on their phone through the software update feature? My carrier is T-Mobile. Should the update not work soon, I guess I'll try the beta version. Can somebody point me to a link where I can download the beta? Also does anyone know if I will be able to use the mobile hotspot feature in the beta with T-Mobile? Thanks for any help.

Yes. It's a glitch of some sort.

Over on T-Mobile's support forum a mod posted that T-Mobile will release 7.1 next week (the week of 13 February). However, none of the mod's offered an explanation for the upgrade notification on the device and seemed to not know it was happening.

Please check the Beta You Than Me section for the download.

If you have the 5 GB data plan, then yes, Hotspot will work as advertised. I have, however, noticed some bugs with it. Sometimes it won't actually connect, and it also loses the SSID I set for it after a battery pull. I set the same SSID on all of my mobile hotspot devices so that I don't have to make any changes in my computers, but the 9900 won't keep what I set.
