This is weird and it seems to have stumped my IT team as well.

I Work for a Global company (will not identify in order to prevent embarrasment of Senior Management)...we as sales people do not have BBerrys.! for 2011...pretty Amazing eh.?

Anyway. We are running Lotus Notes 8.5 on Brand New HP EliteBooks 8440p machines. We do have BES up and running although only "senior" management have company BlackBerrys that are integrated via BES.

As such, I just started with these guys and still have some 300+ contacts in my personal BB 9000 that are totally applicable to my new employment. I have come to understand the BB DTop will in fact allow me to sync with Notes even though I'm not on BES ... I really don't want to have to type in each and every contact into Lotus.

When I try to load BB Desktop via either a DL from RIM or off an older CD, I go to install and get a Window pop up with a weird script... I hit OK and the install dissappears with no evidence of the install being successful.

I was told to do a disk cleanup - did so and same thing happens.




Anyone have this issue..??
...and maybe a FIX..??

I'm guessing your company has restricted installation of applications on your laptop to only those with admin privileges. I have installed BlackBerry Desktop Software (always from a download, never from a disk) on literally dozens of machines running WinXP. Never a problem.

You might try deleting all traces of this software from your machine, restarting it, and downloading a fresh copy to install. And you should have an internet connection during install.

Actually Rambo, they havent. I'm thinking it must be something with Windows itself..corrupted kernel or something like that..? Anyway..next time in the Centre of the Universe (Toronto), I'll bring it in to them and they can mess with it. for now I'll just keep putting my contacts in my pers BB. One day I'll get em sync'd.

One last thing you *could* try is installing the software in safe mode. It takes some minor tinkering to allow safe mode installs, but it's not that tough:

I was thinking same as Rambo, and you didn't mention, so I have to ask: Are you allowed admin privileges on the computer? Have you successfully installed other applications?
