Default BES browser download size

Please Login to Remove!

Where can the maximum download size for webpages and file downloads in the BES browser be adjusted? What is the size range?

The carrier's MDS browser has no problem downloading certain files and sizes and these seem to be limited on our BES browser.

The error is in the browser. There is no info in RIM's kb's.

Click on the MDS connection in the left pane then click on Edit Properties on the right. I believe that's right, although I'm not looking at a BES at this particular moment.

I thought there also, but that can't be it. When I set the size under the general option to 2MB it says the value is out of range.

Did you follow the steps in hdawg's post above? That's exactly what you want.

As I stated in my post above, and as is stated in the the KB, the maximum is 1024kb. There must be a setting somewhere to up this as our needs are in the neighborhood of 5mb. Some users have large voicemail messages that they wish to download and listen to through the web interface. This works fine on the carrier's browser, but not the BES browser. If we can get this working on the BES browser then we can close the ports for WAN access.

The maximum is 1024 KB ... if there is a way to change it, it would be a registry hack which I do not know of ... you could try calling T-Support and ask if there is a method to increase it past 1MB. If there is indeed a way, please post back the results here.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 9000: BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Has anyone found a way to hack this limit? 1024 Kb is ridiculous.

There must be a reg hack or something since the carrier browser exceeds that limit by far.

i did. it is here;

Blackberry Manager --> Server --> Global tab --> Edit Properties --> Media Content Management. I added a entry for video/* and made the size 30GB. works great. the 30GB overrides the 1024 set by MDS
of course, i only support 12 users. if this was a BES with hundreds of users, something like this would kill the server. but i believe you can segragate this type of rule by user.

I did this and now I'm getting a "Connection Timed Out" error when downloading files over 5MB. Any idea how to get around this error?

Thanks

change the timeout settings.... i just added a zero on my entry.
Under MDS settings, edit Flow Control timeout.

Flow control cannot be a zero.

I was under the impression that the 1mb limit could not be circumvented. I hope your workaround works for everyone. I just set mine at 10mb for apps and am going to test it later.

Oooooh, my bad.

So far it seems to be working for me for applications. Any way to increase attachment size past 3mb?

That is what I did. Which worked well for my apps. But attachments are still locked at 3mb.
