Default Rogers listing RIM 8310 Curve.

Rogers Wireless is now listing the RIM Blackberry Curve 8310 on Rogers.com website for $299.99 + taxes on a 3 year term commitment new activation. They haven't dropped the price of the 8300 but will most likely do so in the next few days. The only real significant difference is the built in GPS. Other than that it's the same Curve. Sorry, no integrated WIFI but there really isn't a lot of free WIFI spots in Canada.

Wirelessly posted (8300: BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Pfft 3 year contract for that price!! What a garbage provider! Even 2 years is overkill but doable..

In Canada all the wireless carriers use 1, 2, 3 year term commitments. Longer the term commitment accepted by the customer entitles them to lower cost payment on a device (ie: smartphone, cellphone or HSDPA/EDGE data card). Term commitments are a reality and the only viable alternative than paying full price on hardware. Not many people can afford to pay up front $600.00 and up on new hardware such as the Blackberry Curve from the manufacturer. This is why many believe when Rogers gets the Apple iPhone it will be available at lower cost on a term commitment than what our neighbours in the USA paid to have an unsubsidized iPhone on a 2 year term commitment through AT&T. Anyway, at least with Rogers we can do a hardware upgrade on an exisiting line every 12 months where as with Telus it's every 36 months. Unless Bell Mobility has changed their policy I think they still run a hardware upgrade program eligibility every 24 months. Are you able to use the hardware upgrade program with AT&T every 12 months or is it a longer wait?

Default 8310 on Rogers

As a matter of fact, we are totally replacing the 8300 with the new 8310. There are no planned price drops for the 8300 Curve. It is no longer available for order (to Rogers Dealers). Instead we will start marketing the 8310 as the one and only Curve.
