Anyone considering going back to their 8700?
Please Login to Remove!
I am.
Low alert volume + SureType is starting to outweigh the size and camera benefits.
Hell, I've only used the camera twice.

Never switched to the 8100 but thats because I am happy with the 8700. I don't think you'll regret switching back.

So far - two weeks and counting - I am not switching back. I must have loud ringtones
I have never liked Suretype (I tried both the 7100t and the 7105t) but I really like the Suretype on the 8100.
Just my .02
But my 8700 is in my top drawer. Just in case.

Nah. I am liking the 8100. I might when the 8800 comes out. I don't mind Suretype at all.

Never tried the 8700, going to get my hands on one in the next day or so, and see how they compare. I really like the 8100, but I only have the 7130e to compare it to, and it's definitely better than that.

Never had an 8700, but so far my 8100 is a keeper...but to NJB's point, I have a 7100t and a 7130c stashed for backup.

I love my 8100 too much to give it up. I am not going back to my 8700! My wife also loves the Pearl and won't be going back to her 8700 anytime soon.

This is exactly what I did after buying 8100 for 24 hrs, realized 8700 is so much easier to live with daily. I exchanged at TMO store and paid the difference in price.

I went back to an 8700G from the 8100 in 3 days. That pearl is just not my cup of tea. THe finger prints/smudges are the most annoying thing, the trackball is atrocious, and the suretype isn't so hot either.

I hated suretype on the 7130e, and not that it's changed, but somehow I don't seem to mind it on the 8100. I love the BT/modem thing, it's nice having a camera after several BBs and the form factor is really what's winning me over, I no longer have girls asking "Is that a BlackBerry, or are you happy to... " er, nevermind. But yeah, the size is key as is the trackball, I like it's placement much more as now I can scroll maps etc w/o needing 2 hands.

i love the pearl ... i really like the memory card and the camera and video player it plays way smoother then my windows pda. i will never go back to the 8700. The suretype learned what i like to type so i type the same amount of keys as i would normally.

I took back the 8100 after 10 days of pain, I truly wanted to like the device but picked up the 8700 and 3 days into it I dont think Ill take this one back. The screen size the full keyboard. I do miss the trackball ease of use but I have learned the shortcuts and life isnt to bad. The wife loves her Pearl but she is always impressed by my screen. Maybe when the 8800 w/camera comes about I will reconsider another new BB.
