Default 8mb of email in one week???

Please Login to Remove!

I have had my BIS on Orange France for one week and I have had about 100 emails sent about 50 and they are telling me I have used 8mb. All my friends say they never went over 5 mb and that each email was compressed and they had 100's of emails. I do not have a separate internet browsing subscription - probably like a lot of the people on here who only have a WAP browser , this is the reason why. I didn't realise this for a few days so I did browse a few pages on this wap browser but still can't believe I'm at 8mb. Is something not working as it should , does this sound normal.
Thanks

Do a hard reset (pull the battery for 10 seconds) to clear the cache.

are you sure that attachments are being sent with those emails? also are you sure that its just 8mb of "email" or is that also include surfing the web?

Don't know Orange's method used for calculating their data charges for Blackberry customers but with Rogers 1 MB = approximately 900 emails per month which is 30 emails per day. If you're the customer or listed authorized user questioning a data service consultant on understanding what they are seeing in the details of your billed usage then request to speak to a Supervisor or Manager. You can also request to speak to a Data Support Tech to know what the data was used for (ie: streaming video, email, game downloads, etc).

As for the web browser shortcuts "Blackberry Web" and "Your Carrier WAP" both are using RIM's blackberry service so there is no separate charge. This is understandable since a RIM device cannot use a regular data plan used for example on a Palm Treo. Also with out a blackberry data plan you cannot use any data services such as web browsing or even PIN to PIN. Whether you access URL shortcuts in either web browser both are using the same service. Why would you need two web browser links? Really this is a carrier feature to offer their customers easier access to their special links such as direct access to music, games, etc from your carrier's website.
