Default How Easy Can the Screen Scratch?

Please Login to Remove!

I ordered this phone and I've already ordered the silicone skin, I'm wondering if I should also get the screen guard. I know the 8320 curve screen can scratch some. Im not even sure where the scratches on it came from.

Anyway, just wondering if I should go the extra mile and get a screen guard as well.

its always a good idea to get one, any little abrasive can cause it to get scratched...i made the mistake of not putting one on mine and ive only had it for 2 weeks and im already looking for replacement housings for it lol so do it protect your investment.

uh oh. Sounds as bad as the Curves screen. I want to keep this phone in tip top shape so when the next BB comes out, I can sell this on for near new price.

Thanks. I'll order one now.

it is a curve its sprints version of the 8300 series. and yes they are way to easy to scratch. i have an htc mogul that i upgraded from and it doesnt have a single scratch on the screen considering i worked at a high end drill bit manufacturing facility where grit from the diamond grinding wheels was all over the place.

Yeah, I suggest getting a screen protector immediately as well. I am waiting for Seidio to release their case for the 8900 (pre-ordered today). In the meantime, I carefully cut some protective film that I use on my motorcycle from 3M and placed them carefully on the device. I cut out some templates prior and transferred to the tape for cutting. Works well until I get the other case.

Even when I get the seidio cases, I get some clear tape and place them strategically in the places where it rubs on the device to also minimize the abrasion scratches. Just a compulsive behavior.

Wirelessly posted (bb8320TMO)

I have owned several Blackberry™ none of them had any scratches on the screen because I apply BSE screen protector the day I receive the device. I usually buy one before I buy the phone. As for the total body protection. I tried it before and I'm not too crazy about. Screen protection on the other hand is a must.

had my 7100i for about 18 months
big screen, thought it would be loaded with scratches/cracks
after 18 months and dropping it numerous time, case was all banged up but screen was fine, 1 small scratch and thats it,
funny part, dont know if its murphys law, but everytime i dropped it it would land Screen down,
dropped in street/warehouses, just about everywhere and it handled it just fine
hope my new curve does the same

Like manvadher said, all of the three new BB's (Storm, Bold, Curve 8900) dio feature a new screencover. It is nowhere comparable to the "scratch as you look at it" Curve 83xx screen.

The new cover is some sort of glass directly (Bold / Curve) glued to the LCD.
Of course you cam scratch it, but most people will not need an extra screen protector.

Somebody did a scratch test with the Storm when it came out and it was supposedly very very hard. And the Storm came with a protector on it that most people couldn't even detect. I don't know if the 8900 is the same, just reporting what I heard about the 9500.
