Is there a way to strip off attachments coming in to the BIS service?

What is happening - I have a BIS account with 25mb of space. I have several personal email accounts setup for it, in addition to my blackberry email address.

People often email me large file attachments, and this creates a problem because my 25megs is filling up before I have a chance to delete the messages.

For example, its 10am, and I am in a meeting, User X emails me three messages, each with a 5 meg attachment. User Y emails me two emails with a 5 meg attachment.. now in just 5 minutes I have filled the 25mb quota and cannot get any new mail to my BB.

How can I keep this from happening? I looked for a filter to autodelete any with attachments or with a certain size, but did not see any option.

This is a real problem and turns my BB useless most days because of this.

Any ideas or suggestions? (other than telling people to not email me attachments!)

It is not much that you can do, but there is a hope.

You can just switch to T-Mobile, they advertise unlimited blackberry inbox. Put them to test.

You can try Email Reconcilliation.

Open Options, Email Reconcilliation, select the following:

Message Services Web CLient
Delete On: Mailbox & Handheld
Wireless Reconcile: On
On Conflicts: Handheld Wins

When you receive email with large attachment, delete that email. Do not use Delete Prior, you must delete emails one by one.
That should remove deleted messages from BIS account. If you want it faster, after deletion open Options and select Reconcile Now.

It is assuming that feature works as advertised and available on your blackberry- that depends on blackberry software version.

Really, for you it will be much easier just switch to T-Mobile.

the problem is that it builds up during the time I cannot check my BB....

and Tmob isnt an option for me at this time.

what size is your inbox...you can call to request to have it expanded to 100MB. That's the largest limited size...not sure if they will do it for you, though.

as far as i know to get your mailbox larger you have to pay a monthly fee directly to your carrier

50 MB $3.99
100 MB $5.99

Personally, I'd recommend BES hosting. You can expand your storage to meet your needs....
