Default personal blackberry - 10 email accounts sync

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I was planning on getting the Blackberry 7290 with T-Mobile. My company does not use the BES, so I am going to stick with the Internet Service Plan.

I have about 5 seperate POP accounts that I access using Microsoft Outlook. I use filters to seperate the emails into folders and subfolders based on various rules. Now, I know I can get the tmobile to check the pop accounts and send the emails to my 7290.

My questions are:

1. Can I "live" sync outlook and the blackberry - mark read emails as read, replied as replied, recieved as recieved etc?

2. Can the emails still be filtered in outlook like they are right now, once the accounts are setup with tmobile?

3. Can I "live" sync the sent emails with the sent folder of outlook?

4. Can the reply-to address for outgoing mail on the blackberry be the account that recieved the email? Hence, essentially maintaining its individuality?

What I am trying to accomplish essentially is replicating the BES operations without having one?

Am I asking for to much?

Thanks.

look for an app called bbreply, it will allow you to change the reply-to. It is a free app by Mark i believe.

I believe that the new T-Mobile plan will allow changing the sent from address on the fly. Look up thread about T-Mobile changes.

I just found this:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=14843

Looks like it does everything I need. Just not sure about the sent mails though.

Also, do you know if I need my outlook needs to be online at all times for this? I know that the Redirector needs the client machine to be online at all times for it to function correctly.

It really doesnt matter what the FROM: address is as long as the REPLY TO: address is ok.

Has anyone been able to try the sync stuff they are talking about?

You will not be able to mark messages as read or delete messages from Outlook with the new BlackBerry Internet Services UNLESS:

You cannot download messages using the POP3 specification.

If however you are using IMAP to manage your e-mail, that will synchronize with the server which is also accessible by the BlackBerry Internet Service. Only then will you be able to reconcile messages.

Additionally, if you use WebMail to manage your email, which allows you to view the server contents, then POP3 could be used to update the server. But it will not update Client applications that have already downloaded e-mail.

And of course, you will not be able to synchronize contacts, calendar etc wirelessly.

Because you are downloading your e-mail and sorting to folders, this tells me you are not using IMAP, and with relative certainty, you are using POP3 to download e-mail to the Outlook client. Any deletes you make on your BlackBerry will be updated to your POP3 server but Outlook will not check or download these changes.

You will be able to specify another address to send from.

Hope that clears THAT up.

Hey
Just something that crossed my mind right now - outlook has an option where i can leave mail on the server. Now, what if I do this? Would this allow the sync I want?

http://www.t-mobile.com/bisupgrade/

Also, can I sync my blackberry account with outlook? Example, I send out an email from [email address], can I setup the account in outlook and sync them?

thanks,
kunal

PS: I am just basically trying to keep a record of whatever I do to my email. It would be great if this record is stored/synced everywhere.

Consider this; there is no solution I am aware of what will do all 4 things you want if you continue to use your e-mail the way you do.

Without changing anything, you will be able to obtain 75% of your goals.

1. No
2. Yes
3. Yes - With the use of BCC and Outlook rules, its a work-around.
4. Yes

If you stop using POP3 and use IMAP (if available) you will not need to sort e-mail in Outlook. Outlook will provide you a different set of folders for each account. Then you will be able to do:

1. Yes - Deletes anyway, I am not sure about read/unread
2. Yes - No longer necessary, Outlook will display seperate folders for each account
3. Yes - With the use of BCC and Outlook rules, its a work-around not a live sync
4. Yes

Oh... and again this is all assuming you are using T-Mobile, which has upgraded today. I expect all other carriers to upgrade just who knows when.

hey,
I am using tmobile, well, I will on Wednesday once the BB arrives.

What did you mean by BCC?

How can I accomplish 2, 3, 4??

I should be able to accomplish 1 by reconciling my email with outlook, right?

Well ... today (Oct. 2) ... the T-Mobile BB server is not working properly. You don't get messages sent from the Internet. Messages from the BB to BB works fine! Just not from the rest of the world. BB to world is okay.
