I hate it when someone posts a question, and then they go back and delete it because they figured out the problem themselves. They do this even before anyone answers the original post.

Seriously, leave it out there even if you think it is a stupid question/issue, but post what you did. This is a community of people who all share at least one common interest. You never know, what you may feel is a stupid question/issue, might honestly help someone who just lurks on here and is afraid to speak up.

I agree with this! Well said, and I like your signature as well!

If the search button was used properly, we shouldn't get dumb questions.

What is this "search button" that you speak of?

It's that red text link in the nav bar that most people overlook because someone decided to use an annoyingly red font on a blue background.
There's good ways and bad ways to make links more prominent on a web page. This current way is a major fail in my opinion.

Doesn't matter, really. Most people won't use it no matter where it is, or what it looks like.

What if everytime you access the site, you get a big flaming pop up with neon lights asking if you want to do a search for the answer to your question. Maybe alarms could go off too.

(penguin, this isn't a shot at you, just a poke at newer people who don't bother to search)

Maybe if the search worked a little better. I remember when I first started on here I had a very difficult time finding what I was looking for. Even now some times my best search strategy is to use the main Google site and throw in "blackberryforums" as a search term.

And ya, red on blue, worst choice possible for chromatic aberration.

I'd like a google box in the main banner that automatically did a site:www.blackberryforums.com search. Nothing to click to get to it or anything.

I'll third the "red on blue" is horrible on the eyes, I can barely read it.

So you are suggesting that Dom Deluise show up asking "do you want to search" while carrying an alarm clock and a neon sign? Interesting concept. A little strange, but interesting.

It's he doing a permanent Canonball Run in his next life now?

I vote for Mr. T to pop up and shout "Use the Search button - you FOOL!"

"I pity the fool who doesn't use the search function!"

Maybe Mr. T would bring more site traffic as well? We could probably hire him

It's not even the point that people don't search. I was tooling around the forums today and found a couple posts that people started then either came back and said, delete this thread, I found the answer or they deleted the text of their original post.

I vote for the search button to be about 72 font and flash in every different color available and when someone posts a question that has been asked and answered more than once, the next time they log in the get a HUGE pop-up asking them if they have another stupid question that needs answered and if so enter it and everyone who is online at the time will get instant notification of the question and can bombard them with links to all the previous Q&A's. (holy crap, that is one loooooooooooooooooooong run on sentence. Any English teachers want to correct it?)
