Cingular Blue + 3G on a BB Bold 9000?

Hello,
I'm contemplating upgrading to the BB Bold now that the price has dropped considerably. I'm an old AT&T Wireless Customer (Cingular Blue, with the old AT&T SIM card), which has only the old AT&T Wireless globe on it. My plan is from 2004 or so.
I understand that i'll need to fully unlock the bold to get it to work with my plan, since the rebranding caused some of the cell towers to be reassociated with the new APNs.
Has anyone been successful in obtaining 3G on an unlocked BB Bold 9000 on a Cingular Blue chip?
