Default potential curve owner, debating to switch

Please Login to Remove!

hey everyone,
ive had a pearl for a little while now, and was debating switching to the curve. my mom is eligible for a discount with cingular, and she said she would use it to get me the curve if i wanted it, because her phone is working just fine, and she loves it .

The Curve has the 2.0 mp camera, which is a good thing for me. Is it worth it to switch from the pearl to the curve, or should i just stick with the pearl?

i dont want to switch if the differences are only minimal and hard to notice.

hows the reception, speaker, ringtones, etc on the curve?

the pearl is good, but i cant help wondering if there is something better out there, in the form of the Curve.

let me know

thank you very much

In my opinion the only real reason to switch would be for the full keyboard. Things you've mentioned (ringtones, speaker etc.) are not reasons to switch. They are not all that different than that of the Pearl. The camera is 2 MP but it's still a cell phone camera.

If you're happy with the size of the keyboard and okay with Suretype then stick with it.

Personally I had the Pearl. While I loved the size I couldn't get use to the keyboard. Same thing happened to me with the 8700c and the 7130c.

The Curve just suits me better.

Red face Factors to Consider

The Curve has:

- Higher Resolution, Larger Screen
- Higher Resolution Camera
- Full-Screen Movie Playback
- Spell Checker
- 4 GB (and larger) MicroSD Support
- Bluetooth A2DP Music Streaming

You have to determine if any or all of these factors are important to you when making your decision to switch.

The Keyboard layout on the Curve is one of the best that RIM as ever put out, it's an absolulte pleasure to type on! I'd say to give it a try.

If Tmobile have the curve right now I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade my 8700g to a curve.

Unhappy

I have very similar question. I have an opportunity to upgrade to curve, so I went to a store but I was disappointed the way it looks and feels. The pearl looks much nicer, it is not as plastic looking... but I need spell check and a better camera so I am trying to decide what I should do. Any suggestions?

So what are you trying to decide about? From your last sentence, only the 8300 qualifies.

There are plenty of third party spell check applications available.

That should not be a determining factor.

Question

Igreenberg, do you have any recommendation for the spell check apprications? I checked at handango once but couldn't find any...

How about - Bluetooth A2DP Music Streaming...? What's this? I also saw a new icon for something like music download on the curve. Pearl doesn't have it, what can you do with it?

Neck -

The free version of BB Corrector is fine.

I like BB Spell too. They are working on a new version which can be set to automatically check spelling before sending out e-mail, a la the Curve.

From Wikipedia:

This profile defines how high quality audio (stereo or mono) can be streamed from one device to another over a Bluetooth connection - for example, music streamed from a mobile phone to a wireless headset or a boombox.
