No, it's not protocol. It's a method. Already pulled RIM's patents, don't need a lecture. Do some reading. Lots of sources on the web describing different ways to achieve it, Blackberry being only one component. You might learn something.

You right, you the oh so wise knowitall know more than everyone. I guess I'll go do some reading. While I'm brushing up I should notify my clients that i can no longer serve them as I know nothing about network fundamentals.
If anyone from RIM is reading this please tell payroll to get i touch with me as I would like to return my previous salary and save them from that waste of money. I also would like to know if that makes me eligible for a tax rebate.
Thanks.

And just for the record, I snipped nothing from this thread.
Edit: I did just snip something...the part where I said I wouldn't post here again. Cuz, in fact, here I am!

Being a newbie and for clarity, is there any validity to the OP's concern? I am on BIS and have my gmail, yahoo, and OWA accounts integrated with all receipt notifications turned off (I do have a att.blackberry account but do not forward anything to it). If I decided to turn on receipt notifications, how does does that compromise anything?
Thanks.

I believe there is some validity to this. However, I believe it happens only when forwarding everything to the dedicated BB address @carrier.blackberry.net address. So, when the delivery notice gets sent from the device its sending via the @carrier.net address.
The fix is simple. Don't forward to the BB address like that. Additionally, NOWHERE does RIM recommend setting up BOTH forwarding and BIS integration. As to why its sending delivery notices when they're supposedly disabled, I'm not sure.
If the OP wanted to be a little more courteous and accepting of help instead of ridiculing everyone that tried to help him we might get a little more info on this issue.
All integrated email to the BB is true push email. The Blackberry doesn't have to retrieve it, it is automatically sent to you.

Good read, will read again.
To the op, since this happened after an os upgrade why not go back to what worked for a year. Or didn't work but you were happy then.
My 2 cents.
