Default Becoming Frustrated!

Please Login to Remove!

I've now had my Pearl for about a month and a half... and I'm very fast becoming disappointed...
I love this phone, don't get me wrong.. BUT

I have NEVER had a phone that was this shotty as far as service went. Almost daily I'll go through a 6+ hour period of time where my phone may or may not deliver texts... I still have yet to get an MMS message to appear right the FIRST time... and there are (seemingly) constant BIS outages...

For a manufacturer being around for so long, what is happening?! Technology of the phone itself is amazing, but it's almost not worth the money to me with all these service problems all the time..

My razr, sucked. My LG 6200, sucked. But NEVER did I have a problem sending and receiving texts. Never did they randomly shut down a service for hours... Even my nokia 5300 was more stable, being on the same company as my pearl is now

I love this phone and what it does, but I'm really close to instead of getting an 8120, selling my pearl and getting a sidekick if this continues...

/ rant

I'm on t-mo and I never have a problem with texts. I think its your phone. Where are you located? That may also be an issue.

May not be the right device for you - the Sidekick may be better suited.

text is not guaranteed to be instant by any of the carriers! read the terms of service.

have the pearl and haven't experienced many of the factors you are mizditz

I also carry the 8800 with none of those issues

they don't randomly shut the service down I am alwaya aware of when they are shutting down for maintenance (for the most part).

Technology breaks it is a fact. BIS hasn't been down nearly as much as you make it out. Try a treo and have to master reset the phone 4-7 times daily that is crazy.

Try getting a replacement device

or perhaps the BB isn't for you

Hope you get everything resolved

My texts come through fine as well. I also finally resolved my issues with MMS messages. If you use any programs (at least on T-Mobile) that use TCP socket connections, then you have to close them down, turn wireless off and then back on, then send your MMS message. At least this has worked for me flawlessly since I started doing it. Right now I have Viigo, JiveTalk and Opera Mini that are set to use TCP data. So I just close them down, stop and restart the wireless radio, and then I can send. It isn't too much of a hassle for me because I don't send MMS messages too often.

Agree with others here that if SMS and MMS are your primary reeasons for having a device, the Sidekick may be a better bet-be aware though that the Danger servers are more prone to downtime than the BB BIS system is, so you probably won't be escaping that by switching.

Not receiving Text usually equates to a carrier issue. If texting is your thing and your think the sidekick does it better then go for it!

Peace, I'm out!

Oh.. that's not the problem..
I can RECEIVE sms just fine..

But when it takes a half hour to send one, there's a problem.

TeritaM - I'm in the Salt Lake City metro area - 5 bars on EDGE everywhere I go

RoadRider - the reason I suspect it's the phone is because I switched over to my nokia for 3 days and never had an issue as far as texts or mms goes. And as far as I've seen, my dad has NO problem with his curve

I've totally given up on MMS messaging, because no matter what I do it's hit or miss whether I receive them blank or not... I've told people either 1- send them to my email (only way they come through with a picture) or 2- just don't send me anything mms-like.
I can send MMS just fine however...

I have a friend with a sidekick, he's had it for a little over a year now, and he's the one that actually pointed me to my sms problem... We were texting, and my phone randomly stopped "delivering" texts for 15min.. then it finally did and he got flooded with them... It's done that every half hour for almost 24 hours now.

What's even funnier is my dad has a curve, and doesn't notice any problems with BIS/BES or SMS/MMS. Then again, he doesn't use the last two as much as I do
(where my monthly bill says 19,000 texts in a month... his says 2,000)

At this point I'm just not sure what to do. Keep in mind the T-Mobile by my house is pretty much dumb, and they told me that "all back covers on all blackberry's fall off" You think I'm going to go talk to them about anything like this? You're pretty much wrong, they'll say the same thing "all blackberry's have problems sending sms"

*sigh* I just don't know anymore...
Now it's stopped pushing my email again too (3 emails in my inbox, none on my phone) It's just adding to a not-so-great day...

And I'm not saying the sidekick does better. Any phone has equal ability as far as sms and mms goes, I know that...
But when in the store signing a contract, it was between the pearl and a sidekick... you see who won so far ;)

I don't want to give up quite yet... but I'm contemplating for sure..
I love my little pearl... it's a fun phone! But dropping down to a different phone also takes our phone bill from $200 back to $170... can't complain about that! I'd have to come up with the money though... I hate money!

I don't see how when we were on verizon for 3 lines its was $200 and tmobile for 2 lines WITH discounts its $200... *shrugs*

You can always tell your friends there device sucks and peer pressure them into getting a blackberry. Thatxxx8217;s what we did as promoters in NYC nightlife. Now they all have them and we communicate over BB messenger. It has made my AIM obsolete. We had a great name for the sidekick we called it a SH*T Kick. There were many night were my friend had 2 walk 2 blocks to the white castle just to get his email because of the sidekick service. Sidekick =Kid Device, Blackberry = Corporate or as we like to call it Grown Device. We shamed my record exec friend into getting a blackberry. I kept telling him how I brought my 9 year old daughter one and how she could hit him on aim and they could talk about there service experience. LMao

Well... I don't really care about the email thing, it's nice, but not necessary. I spend most of my time on my computer anyway... No phone will replace that, phones aren't laptops... yet. As stated, I do more texting than anything. I don't even really browse the web much..

As far as a "kid device" well, I'm 17 almost 18... doesn't that count me as a "kid"

IMHO... I HATE the bb messenger. I hate that you can't ever "sign out", yeah you can say you're unavailable, but that doesn't stop people from messaging you.. it's just about the worst thing ever to me... and you can't just go change your pin if you get people you don't like talking to you.. yeah you can delete them, but that doesn't stop them from trying to add you again.

and NJ, yeah that's what I'm thinking. At the end of the month I'm going to probably take of my BB data plan, and go to my nokia until I can get the sidekick.. depending on if I can sell my pearl or not and how fast/how much will depend on a lot too :P

Lol, I just want something that even seems a little more reliable...
I don't know what happened between my dad's phone(s) and mine..

He couldn't set up his email for a long time on the pearl.. but everything else works.. his curve had some service book issues, but now it's fine..
Well all that stuff worked but NO I notice these dumb things...

I do believe it's because I text too much... so I need a "text phone"

...Now to come up with $300...
I'm half way there on april 1st!
