Angry FIDO sucks for BlackBerry

Please Login to Remove!

I just got off the phone with Fido to add the BlackBerry connect option with Fido. They say they are unable to add that service now and they don't know when it will be available to add.

I am really upset since I spoke to someone at Fido last week saying it was no problem. I bought my new unlocked blackberry and now they say it won't work.

What do I do? I don't want to switch providers since I have a great $70 unlimited plan. Moving to Rogers will cost me alot on the voice package.

Any suggestions???

i'm actually thinking of writing a paper on how to get a BB working with fido and getting someone to put it in the BBFAQ lol give me a few days to work on it... lol

as for the issue Corey is having, right now it s a technical issue with the systems (vision21) fido is using... i'm still looking into if rogers is having the same issue as they use the same systems. as for a ETA, i'm still looking into that as well... normally with things like this the ETA isnt very long...

UPDATE!

there is no known issue with adding the BB connect option in any fido account, or any issues with the systems in both fido and rogers. when i was talking with my contacts they have said that they have had no issues adding it to peoples accounts and that they believe the issue was an unexperienced rep didnt look into the issue well enough and there was a conflicting item in your account preventing him from having it added...

so there you have it

I spoke to Fido about adding the Blackberry Connect service to my plan yesterday. I have an unlocked 8700c (refurb. purchase), and would really like to take advantage of it's email/maps/browsing functionality.

I called their Customer Retention department (I deal almost exclusively with them, since their "regular" Customer Service is a joke!) and asked about adding the BlackBerry Connect and was told, "Sorry, its no longer available. We only offer the Windows Mobile option". They even put me on hold and verified that it wasn't available. Yet when I spoke to Fido 2 weeks earlier, they said it could be added if I wanted it. And when I asked what will happen to those Fido customers who purchased Nokia E62s which rely on the BlackBerry connect, they said the service will still apply for them, but it can no longer be added to an existing plan.

WTF?!? If a Fido customer is willing to pay for a service that Fido already provides, why can't that customer get that service?

I've (very loyally) been with Fido for over 5 years now, but I am very seriously considering switching to Rogers. The people at Rogers have already told me I can switch between Fido and Rogers without paying cancellation fees, so where's my incentive to stay with Fido?

In fact, the next time I log on here, I may be a full-fledged Rogers customer.

that sounds like a load of crap... BB Connect is not going anywhere... call regular customer service and have them add it... and as for your comment, if they do for some reason no longer offer it to be added to accounts its because they dont want to... being a loyal customer or not if they no longer offer it they cant add it, simple as that... people with it will be grandfathered, just like the old voice plans like city fido and such...

but let me look into the issue about the no longer offer part as its still on the website so they should still be adding it.

Hi Cory,

I'm on the phone with Fido's (regular) Customer Service and I am being told that the only way I can add the Blackberry Connect to my plan is if I have a Nokia E62.

I'm tired of dealing with Fido. I received a text from them earlier today saying that I incurred additional charges over and above my Unlimited Internet Surfing plan. I cancelled my Unlimited Internet Surfing option about a month ago, and haven't tried to get "online" with my Blackberry since. Of course, now that I'm on the phone with them, I find out that they failed to turn the Unlimited Internet Surfing option off!!! So not only am I getting charged for the Unlimited Internet Surfing option (which I'm not using), but I'm also getting charged for internet browsing that I'm not doing! Nice.

Rogers, here I come!

From my understanding with Rogers. the blackberry connect plan is only for smart phones and there are blackberry data plans for blackberrys, i'm always telling Fido people to call fido about blackberrys, but Fido seems to claim they only deal with cellular phones.

^Fido DOESNT support blackberrys... they dont sell them so they dont support them... plain and simple.... Blackberry connect is the same as a regular blackberry plan... i have used 3 different berries on the blackberry connect plan and have HAD NO issue at all...
