Default 2 of the 3 computers I downloaded Desktop Manger on had their hard drives explode.

Please Login to Remove!

Yep, two of the computers I downloaded the Desktop manager on had their hard drives fail.

My personal PC and my work PC both need new hard drives. Lucky the thrid PC I deleted as soon as I realized what was going on.

Im officially pissed.

This is the most absurd post I have ever seen. You may need to try downloading from a valid site or using the version that came on the CD. Hvae you been installing the same install on every PC.

I have DLed all three from the same link which was given to me on this site.

I assure you guys this is not BS.

It was actually given to me by John Stark I think, Im not blaming him. Just saying that it was a reputable site. It was either BB's or Cingulars.

The PC which didnt crash was the one that I actually used to DL the newest .71 OS with.

The other two wouldnt boot up after being restarted. Then they began to make grinding sounds from the Hard drives.

Both PC's were still under covered under 12 month.

Of course, I dont have the CD. My pearl was given to me by a friend who works at Tmo. He won it in a drawing.

Well seeing how no one on the planet has had this problem, sounds like something unique to what's going on with your computers or your software.

Good luck.

Are you talking your hard drives had an actual hardware failure or just they crashed the OS? If hard drive failure, your anger is misdirected. If you want to be pissed about something, be pissed about whoever sold you those computers with two faulty hard drives.

Oh, Im not mad. I just thought it was odd that I have had these computers for like 11 months each and the day after I install DT manager both of the hard drives have a mechanical failure.

Isnt it rare to have TWO hard drives fail the very next day?

I was just wondering If I was special.

No. One brownout *could* destroy an entire office worth of hardware, surge protectors do not protect against this situation (well unless you have a nice, fancy expensive one). I don't know where you are, but I bet there are people up in the northeast with that freak blizzard having power quality problems.

Uhhhh, I work in a hospital lol.

I dont think the brown out would effect one of the 1000+ computers at my site.

And my home PC crashed 2 days prior to me downloading DT at work.

I have used the desktop manager from various service providers websites, the Blackberry site as well as three or four different versions on CD that came with devices

This is the most ridiculous thread I think I've read on these boards.

"Desktop Manager made my hard drive explode".

Someone call the National Enquirer.

Default Not possible

Simple as that m8, hardrives die for a no. of reasons, but if as you suggest, it has failed at hardware level rather than logically, then you can't blame data.

Presuming the HDD's are S.M.A.R.T have look at them via the BIOS* (though the below will provide more detailed info).

If user data is accessible (another bootable drive and a utility is useful) then get it off and have a go at the drive with the utility provided by your HDD manufacturer*. 0 write the drive (low level format) and likely that there is a utility on there to write around bad sectors, it may tell you there are none and correct a logical problem with the formatting.

If the platter/transport is damaged either look at heat or supply as culprits.

If the board is damaged look to supply (A/C and 12v rail).

Two is unlucky coincidence, not caused by data ;)
