I use this site 90% of the time to Pinstack 10%. I do like their section on themes and downloads and I like their carrier section. I choose this section because it seems more consolidated. There is room for everyone.

Not to sound like a "suck-up" I think the mods here are much more responsive.

From my reading, the role of moderators is one difference between the two. Whether this is positive or negative seems to depend on personal opinion.

Ultimately, I think most people try both and figure out what is worth clicking on and what is not for themselves. When I have time, I look at both. It's the content, not the forum, that matters to me.

Well. Its not just the mods that answer the questions. If anything, they are facilitating this learning community.

As far as determining as to what is significant. When someone has a problem or question, it is generally most important to he or she as the poster, so you hope that someone will take the time to review. I see that as a strength of this site.

Enough said.

My only point is that the name doesn't matter, only the content.

Anyway, I'm clearly in an all-fire zone so I'm going to stop posting in this thread. Sorry.

Just one more thing: Pinstack just had a post about voice directions on the blackberry. I'm already signed up. I don't see it here.

Why do people get so emotional about URLs? There are good things here, and there are good things there, and consumers benefit from both.

Not quite, though. (this isn't aimed directly at you, others have made this sentiment) By using the same "brand name" it dilutes that name out in the non-BB public. The easiest way to observe this trend is by using Google, the way 99% of people find anything anymore.

Click here (open in new tab/window):
http://www.google.com/search?client=...ackberryforums

What's the third result? Why, it's Pinstack - now why would Pinstack come up a search result for 'blackberryforums' (no spaces, the proper name of this site)? Because Pinstack has used the same exact name and keyword stuffed in an attempt to draw traffic towards their site, and away from BBF.

Now, factor in that people like Guess (Tom, BBF owner/founder) make money - I hope - from advertising revenue, sponsorships from dealers/accessory sellers/etc. and stuff like that and in the real world Pinstack is taking business away from BBF by using the same name.

Anyhoo, it is what it is and everyone has an opinion on the subject.

Point taken.

Isn't there a legal way to protect the brand?

Easy answer rivvie... There are no morals left in this country.... It's ok to steal, pillage, cause mayhem, murder, rape, rob, scam, hack, and crack...

Glad I will not be here to see what this place is like 50 years from now.... YIKES!

Exactly, that's why I visit both, but I will say PS is more likely to help you on a problem or question.

How about we keep the personal attacks out of this thread? Everybody has a right to their opinion and has a right to post here.

I'm beginning to think this thread has outlived it's usefulness.....and may be closed soon....

I agree. I had no idea my original question would incite such passion, though I'm glad I asked because I really wasn't certain whether Pinstack was an extension of this site or not. But things do seem to have gotten a little out of hand.

The point you are trying to make here is absolutely hilarious especially when the url (www.blackberryforums.com) is made from a trademarked name.

On another note the site url (domain) is Pinstack.com - Where Blackberry Professionals Connect! and Pinstack.com - Where Blackberry Professionals Connect! is a sub domain.

Neither site has itself has trademarked "Blackberry" Or "forums" so this whole argument is mute. If anyone should be angry or upset it should be RIM. Since they are the only ones who may have had anything stolen.
