Ok...but it was *obvious* display, not *carefree* or *discreet* display...and good that you don't say anything, but remember also, no groaning, rolling the eyes, staring, stomping off in a huff...
EDIT: Tongue in cheek, though it may not show.

I don't ever say anything to a person that's guilty of brand-whoring. I have mixed emotions. I feel sorry that they feel the need to do it, and I'm also a bit angry at the societal establishment that teaches children that showing their brand name things makes them a better person. It just gets worse when they grow up and think that buying a Mercedes C230 makes them better because it is a Mercedes.
With regard to a person showing off their Porsche key, i don't mind that. I mind it even less if they are in a plain T and jeans. That shows me that it is just a car to them. Diddy said it best: "To you it's a Bentley, to me it's a blue car."
|
Interesting you chose the C230, because that's the exact car I always think of that fits the person you are talking about in this thread.

HAHA!!
Yeah, the C230, E320/E350, and BMW 325 are cars that tip me off to someone like that.

I'm an alpinestar guy. (motorcycle gear).
I really don't care for brand whoring, but I do love the alpinestar product, I actually bought some of their clothing. Besides their logo looks cool

Haha...Love the thread guys
For me, I like wearing Colorado clothing just because the style suits me - don't really care if anyone notices the brand and I don't go out of the way to advertise it (Is it something you would advertise anyway, it's not very expensive). Am I showing my fashion noobness yet?
I don't know, trend whores don't annoy me that much. I think most of the time it is not that hard to spot someone doing it for attention and someone who is just wearing a certain brand because they like it, fits well, whatever.

I openly confess, I have been known to be a logo clod. My tastes tend towards Levi's and Nike, with some occaisional ESPN gear thrown in. I've never been accused of having sophistication, though.

I really don't care of how much things cost. If i like it and it fits me well is good for me.

Saw a middle aged guy with a very large pot belly in the airport the other day with a very large Adidas logo on his t-shirt. Wearing New Balance tennis shoes.

I was in and out of about nine of them this week. Heading to my least favorite, MIA, tomorrow morning.

Ick. That sucks. MIA's name should really be Miami/Havana International Airport.
Anyway, no airports for me for a few weeks unless I decide to do a mileage run one weekend here (I'm 12 segments and 10k miles from Gold on US Airways). I'm working up by DC, so I just rented a truck and drove up. It's only about 3 hours, so it was much easier and cheaper than flying.

I love top notch brands but got out of the big logo's in the 90's. I do have True religion jeans, antik denim, Rock and Republic as well as 7 jeans. most of my t shirts are plain white T's from the hood store..lmao size xl 4 for 20. I am a nike whore though. dunks, AF1's and airmax's. Shopping is one of my down falls. But im working on it. I only brought 1 pair of jeans this year so far.

I was a complete brand whore in my youth. It was all about that low gear...Hilfiger, Polo, Nautica, Kenneth Cole, etc etc but I grew up and if it fits and is comfortable and is quality I'll wear it. As far as some of the brands today, I just can't see paying almost $300 for a pair of jeans when it costs less than $20 to make them. But I guess we all have our vices because some would call me nuts for all the money I spend on gadgets and paintball. lol.

I though that meant stealing a brand name and using it on a different product. As in using a brand name or altering one letter....ie.... Lindows is a app that's not Windows.
Does this explain, what I meant?
