Blackberry Curve OS 5.0????
Please Login to Remove!
OS 4.5 hasn't even come out officially for all the Curves, and there are rumors (more like screenshots) of OS 5.0. According to boygeniusreport ( BlackBerry OS 5.0: your first looky looky : Boy Genius Report), this OS will provide current generation Curves to have similar applications like the ones on the up-and-coming Blackberry's. Maybe this is a reason to keep the current Curves and not upgrade to a new Blackberry??

Besides, the newer Blackberries offer more than just a newer OS.

I guess RIM is only allowed to work on one thing at a time.

We should all be greatful that RIM is so dedicated to providing the best operating systems and hardware. If Palm had the same dedication, they'd likely still be king.
I say hats off to them!

i think my post explained the ridiculous part already. let me rephrase, i think it's ridiculous that 4.5 hasn't officially come out yet for all service providers, yet they're already working on 5.0. Comprende?

But 4.5 not being released for all service providers isn't as much an issue with RIM as it is with the service providers waiting to release the OS (like the delays with the Bold on AT&T). Besides, multiple development projects running at the same time is not at all unusual or ridiculous. Heck, there are multiple handsets being developed and prepped for release, and they are all going on at the same time. I would even go so far as to say there are likely other developments going on at the same time as all this other work is being accomplished, so all in all, nothing strange about this in the least.

To me it's at&t still not offering 4.5 and at&t NOT offering the Bold.
It seems the Bold is going to be at&T's "Vista". Lots of hype and promises but so far not living up to any of it. And the other BB models that were supposed to come out after the Bold might make it to the US market before the Bold.

No, I don't "comprende".
So, say GM should not begin developing new 2010 models until after all dealers in the world have begun selling 2009 models.
Seems short-sighted to me, that not be a good business plan.
AT&T is the issue at this point, not RIM.

Yes, I 2x check AT&T at least 2x per week, and still they don't have OS 4.5.xxx up and running. I even emailed customer service and put the question to them directly, but no response. Oh well, what the smell.

do you know that Microsoft has "Windows 7" in beta, and Windows 8 already being developed? Meanwhile most people havent even considered switching to Vista yet unless it came on a new pc.

ok i understand where you're coming from, but i'm just really anxious for the official release of 4.5 that i wished they'd just put it out already. and now with the knowledge of 5.0, i'm going to be even more anxious to get my hands on that when it officially comes out

RIM has already released 4.5 and it works well. I've been using it for 2 mos now. The retards at AT&T are the problem. Don't expect them to release 4.5 until way after the Bold is released. They don't want their customers getting a free upgrade when they can sell them a Bold instead.

I agree. The whole reason why a "beta" is released is to gradually fix the problems with it by checking it against the already released product. It doesn't make sense NOT to start working on it now

Thats basically it, a new clock feature and a few others that arent as functional yet. Still in the early stages (obviously). Surprisingly not too buggy, had some far worse experiences with some of the 4.5 betas. Also, BB Messenger isnt working on 5.0 yet.
