Hello everyone! Forgive the noobie question... I did a search but got more than I bargained for. I went to turn off my BB and it asked me if I wanted to "Turn Off" or "Full Power Off". What is the difference? I did the full power off but when I pressed the button on the top it wouldn't turn on. Explain?

Do you have the 7520? If so, I know the power button is the same as the light button. I have powered off a couple of times but I have never been posed with that question. Usually is just says that it's powering off and I can hit any key to stop it. Hmmm...

I am using a 7250 on Verizon. I scroll to the bottom of the home screen and there is the Off Switch icon. That is when it asks me which 'off' I want.

The difference is that on full power turn off the battery draws no power what so ever, thus saving power. The other turn off basically puts the phone into a sleep mode and there is some battery power drain. If you turn full power off, when you power back up it will sometimes require to turn the wireless back up before yuo can start receiving E-mail again. I do not ever turn off the bluetooth simply because I use the headset so much during the day that I do not want to be turning it on and off, this also draws power while turned off but not full power turn off. Also when at my computer, it always is connected via the USB which recharges it so the overnight drain from the turn off(partial) is always minimal and in my eyes not noticeable.

If you read what it says, it basically says that it will turn back on at a certain time. So if you have an alarm set somewhere, that's when mine asked. And yes the "light" button is also the power button.

Here is a question..

I have a 7520, and no matter how I shut it off, I always get the same dialog box:

"Turning handheld off - Press any key to abort".

Why am I not getting the question?

It sounds like it depends on how you turn your device off; using the backlight button on the keypad or using the Power Off icon on the device homescreen.

The only time I get the 2 questions about shutting down is when the my alarms are active. If you turn completely off, the alarm will not turn the phone on. If I turn the alarm off, it only tells me "any key to abort."

If your alarm is set and you shut down the alarm will wake the phone up and thus sound its alarm. If its a full power off the phone will remain off until you start it back up.

The idea of it telling you "any key to abort" is due to accidental shut off.

If you have Auto on and Auto off set it will ask you this when you go to shut the device off.
Choosing full power off will make it so that the device will not turn back on for the time set on the Auto on where Turn off will turn the device on at the time set on the Auto on.

On my 7130 I have Auto on/off set for weekdays and weekends. At night I sometimes click the Turn Power Off icon and get "This device is scheuled to turn on at ......"

However when the auto on time is reached in the morning, it does not turn on. I have to press the Power key on the top of the BB. I thought the reason for the two off optons (full power off) is to select either full off or auto on.

Can anyone confirm?

It should be No Auto on (selecting "full power off") and Auto On (selecting "turn off")

I just tested this on my 7290 and my 7130 and it works. If i set Auto On the select to just "turn off" when the auto on time is reached, it turns back on. If I set the auto on and select "full power off" it does not turn back on.

This is how it is supposed to work.

Yea, that's how it is supposed to work. But mne did not. I wonder if having it holstered when the Auto On time is reached it won't turn on?

My 8700 is always holstered at 7am when it turns on by itself. I have never had an issue with it not turning on and it normally starts vibrating about 7:02 am when it downloads the emails received overnight.

The other big difference that I notice from the 7290, is the 8700 is almost an instant on when I hit the button on the top.

Is there a Full Power Off for the 8700? I've tried both the main screen icon and the button up top. In neither case does it ask me whether I want full power off (and I do when I finally turn it off).

Is there a setting somewhere that isn't set right? I do not have the bb set to turn on and off automatically, nor do I have any alarms set.
