There gonna be some custom tax involved if you would going to ship to another county, and depends on where you are it can be anywhere from 10-40%.

The tax, if any, won't be upon me. Shipping from USPS here on base is no different then me being in Florida shipping from USPS. Takes the same amount of time to get to any state.

If you haven't heard of it before, then i don't believe you have to pay taxes. When people mail stuff from China to the US, we don#t pay taxes, so i'm assuming its the same for you. I know Germany charges import tax, But then again, Germany charges for everything.

I am sorry, I used to work for an international trading company and you do have to pay import tax on cell phone. For imports of electronic products from most countries including China are charged with import duties ranging 5%-10% or more. You can visit the US Harmonized Tariff Schedules Chapter 85 for more details on it.
And there are some very seriously penalties if you try to send it without paying your duties, I have seem it too many times...of course, there are some lucky fews able to get away with it but not recommanded.

Taxes are only implied on business, not personal. No way to prove he paid for an item. Like the example i've stated to him. If he went on a vacation to another country like Spain and he took his phone... then upon leaving he forgot his phone at the hotel, the person at the hotel will mail it to him, do you think he has to pay tax on his phone??? no..... i've seen it happen here and its not fraud or cheating... I'm not a business.

BTW, i read US Harmonized Tariff Schedules Chapter 85, only applies to business exporters. Not personal people who want to send a "gift".

I am not trying to give you a hard time on this bro, or mess up your sales. And you are right if you send it as a gift, there will be no duties on it. And trust me, most cases government will not found out about it because the dollar amount is so small and they don't even care. But, during my emplyeement with that trading company I have helped at least 10-15 peoples a week because they simply got caught...
