Default OpenGL Platform for future BlackBerry devices

Please Login to Remove!

I've read a couple of RSS feeds about this exciting development and as far as i can see it will be available on just the Storm2 9550 and Curve 8530 for the time being as they both sport the latest gen Qualcomm chipsets...

However the bigger question is when will this OpenGL ability/support be available to GSM devices rather than CDMA devices? Unless GSM devices are using Qualcomm chipsets nowadays as well

Anyone shed any light on this?

I do believe Open GL support will be available to more devices as OS 5.0 gets rolled, probably something like 5.1

Well i answered my own question just 10 minutes ago when i purchased PBA Bowling 2 for my Storm 2 and WOW!

Ok it's not Xbox 360 graphics lol but it's still impressive that's its proper 3D on a mobile phone

OpenGL is compatible with GSM devices then! Any news on what future OpenGL games and/or apps will be available?

I think there is a contradiction in your posts.

Is the Storm2 a GSM or a CDMA phone??

The Storm 2 is both, just like its older brother, the original Storm.

* Quad-band: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM®/GPRS/EDGE networks
* Single-band: 2100 MHz UMTS/HSPA networks
* Dual-band: 800/1900/ MHz CDMA/Ev-DO Rev A networks

Any word on a Storm 2+ device with North American HSPA/HSDPA bands: 850/1900Mhz or 2100Mhz AWS 3G bands?

Still unsure just WHY RIM/Qualcomm didn't take advantage of this opportunity to stave off iPhone with the Storm 2.
