Funny how it goes... I was on my computer checking the weather to see if it was indeed cold enough for hell to freeze over, when I heard this loud THUMP on my roof. Ran out to see this huge pig sitting on the roof over the garage with a couple of other birds..... Wonders never cease.... and the accuracy of the info on this forum ..... well in today's case is dead on......

With so many rumors flying around like I heard a from a dealer that cleans the Tmo's CEO's toilet and so on......etc that it hasn't moved to the rumor mill already. Maybe we should just talk about the the 8300 itself instead of the "release date" until it becomes official.

What is it, about the Ocean that attracts you? I don't know anyone with a Helio Phone, and I'm curious what the experience is like, and if users are happy with them.

Thanks

...and that makes absolutely no sense. The 83XX series is the camera series. The non-camera models are in the 88XX line. Again, I'd say that the source in question is highly dubious.

Logic? It's wishful thinking. Just look at the history of release exclusives and you'll see that carriers picked up the models that they wanted to carry in the end. For whatever reason, Cingular passed on the 7100 and opted for the 7130 instead and that's the only exception that I know of. They both carried the 7290 and 8700 after Cingular's release exclusive period was over.

Once again, carriers will pick and choose the models that they will carry. The 88XX series isn't exclusive to Cingular and the 83XX series isn't exclusive to TMO. Now, a particular model in either series might only be offered by one or the other but they both have corporate and consumer clients to appease.

It's my understanding that Cingular will be getting the 8300.

Cheers....

Gentlemen, help me out here. If I buy a new 8300 from Cingular on their 2-yr contract, and then get it unlocked so I can use it on T-mobile, don't I still have a firm 2-yr obligation to Cingular?

If you buy the BB based on a new 2 yr contract, then of course you will have a 2 yr obligation to cingular. However, if you buy it outright at retail, then you don't. And if you buy it at a contract price and cancel, you will have to return the BB.
