This would not surprise me a bit!

It is amazing, when I was with Nextel, you would know about these introduction for months, RIM does a better job of keeping a lid on it to get within a couple of weeks of a launch without everyone knowing!

I wonder if it will have an exclusive website, as the 8800 does...would be nice to at least get some concrete specs on this phone.

Well I tried the address of the 8800 site and replaced it with 8300 and got an "In Construction" message in german. I am sure they will have a site set up but RIM knows they can jump to gun or someone would find it!

When it's launched, does this just mean announcing it or are they going to be available? If yes, on which network?

I just saw that it will be launched on at&t/cingular....when is T-mo getting into the game?

When it is launched, it will be available within days, I have even seen the same day as the launch.

As far as T-Mo, I do not understand what is going on with them, in the past they have been right on top of new hardware from RIM.

And if Cingular is releasing the 8300, which version will it be? The baby bear, mama bear, or papa bear? Because I'm sure they will go with their new mantra of crippling wifi on every device they release (Except the ppc's. Just doesn't make sense to me).

It may not make sense but it is what Cingular does. Not all of us need or give a rats butt about WiFi. BUT, I do know it is important to those who want it.

Why not just release it?
What is the big loss for cingular/ATT if they have a BB w/WiFi?
Most everyone is paying for unlimited data anyways...

I dont understand it either. BB customers are required to sign up for a BB data plan. At that point shouldnt cingular be happy if their customers chose to take some of the load off their own data networks by using personal WIFI networks? Cingular makes the same money either way... you cant buy a BB from cingular without signing up for BBdata.

But you can. Cingular will sell a Blackberry without a plan, I bought my 8800 without a plan. The 8300 will also be on eBay very soon!!

As a percentage of the total units sold I am sure the amount of unactivated units sold is very small.

I'm just dying to get rid of my 8100. First i was gonna grab the 8800, but what seemed like days afterwards the 8300 was announced. I mean i know we all knew about way back when, but actually something tangible. So hopefully The T-Mob will jump on this. They have really been dragging @$$ lately.

I just hope the sugarcube trick works on the AT&T 8300 then, if this is all how it's going to happen. I just feel *dirty* carrying around a brand from a company that knowingly and willfuly broke the law to help the US gov't do warrantless wiretapping.

I agree! We behind the times on the 8800, now it appears we behind the times on the 8300.... I guess we are finding out how Verizon and Sprint BB'ers feel...

Has T-Mo fallen off the RIM roadmap?

I'm not usually a betting guy but I'd say that AT&T will start advertising the blackberry 83xx is coming soon in April as BG said, but they wont actually ship it until around May.
