Default Corporate Users and Installed Apps - Opinions, please?

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings All,

I am planning on creating a BB application for a client whose primary clientele consists of corporate users with BlackBerrys.

So I was thinking about creating a java application that people could install themselves. Now I worry that perhaps their BES corporate policies may not allow them to install their own apps.

Then I was thinking that I would use the BlackBerry Plug-In and create a BB Widget, but I am also concerned that many people may not be able to install it.

And finally, I was thinking of simply have a website opitimized for the BlackBerry Browser.

If anyone would like to weigh in on the pros and cons of an installed application for the corporate masses vs. creating a web application optimized for the BB Browser, I would really, really appreciate it.

Also, if there is another option that I did not think of, I would love to hear that as well.

Thank you,

Paul

Folks on a corporate BES network can still download your applicaiton OTA, as long as this is allowed in their corporate IT policies.

You might also provide the app to the BES administrator for distribution to the users via BES.

In our experience, in some corporations you need one, some the other.

Thanks, Doug.

I appreciate your input. It had not occurred to me to enlist the support of the IT staff in distributing the app. But depending on the client, it might make sense.

Best,

Paul

This is typically the distribution method if the purchase is made centrally by the corporate IT department.

Individual purchasers generally download OTA.
