Default BB email messages (Lotus Notes) coming into device as "read" status

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have a user who is receiving all new email on his BlackBerry marked as "read" even though it is unread in Lotus Notes. All of his server replicas as well as his local replica show the message as unread. I have removed the user from the BES (account and manually deleted state database), run fixup, updall, and compact maintenance on the mail file, re-added the user to the BES, and activated with the same results. RIM suggested re-creating the mail file, however, that will be a very time consuming task as I am not the Domino admin.

Has anyone else seen this type of behavior? If so, did you find any resolutions short of recreating the Domino mailfile?

I am using Domino 8.5 and BES 5.0 MR2.

Thanks.

Default Didn't notice this issue, but

Sorry, I didn't face this exact issue, but would recommend the below :

1. Upgrade server to SP1. Don't think it would resolve the issue, but there are several issues fixed in SP1.

2. Check the Person doc and User ID. The name has to match (FN LN/OU/O)

3. Check the database properties on mail file on the last tab and set the unread sync to all servers.

4. Check BES has Manager access to mail file. Sometimes it helps to add the server directly on the mail file in addition to LocalDomainServers.

Hope this helps.

We ended up resolving this problem. The process that moved this user from one OU to another never finished completely. We ended up having to run an Obsolescent Name Change utility on this user, re-certify his user.id, delete/add to BES, and re-activate.

He was moved a couple of months ago, so I find it odd that it just decided to break now rather than when he supposedly moved OUs.

It makes sense that read/unread marks failed as BES only recognizes the first entry in the multi-value field of the "User name:" field in the Person doc.

Example:
User's Notes name is = Barack Obama/IT/ORG

Example of working one:
User name:
Barack Obama/IT/ORG
Barack Obama

Example of NOT working one:
User name:
Barack Obama
Barack Obama/IT/ORG

Example of NOT working one:
User name:
Barack Obama/HR/ORG
Barack Obama

More details on Domino's unread marks architecture and how they are stored and refreneced, see link below:-
