Default BB Messenger Question

Please Login to Remove!

Is the Blackberry Messenger service available for BB's irregardless of the service provider?

Will BB Messenger allow IM across service providers? For example can I as a Nextel customer have a conversation with someone that has a Blackberry on Verizon service, T-Mobile to Cingular, etc etc?

Thanks!

Yes, that's the beauty of it.
I've Blackberry Messenger'd people in the UK, Spain, Australia and more.
It takes advantage of PIN to PIN messaging, which goes across all networks.

My 8700c from Cingular did not come with this app. I heard that Cingular is not letting users use this app. Can anybody else confirm this?

I used it on my 7100g and 7290, and my bosses use it on their 7100g's. No extra charges appeared.
The app came with the last OS upgrade we installed.

Palonge, since you're on Cingular, are there charges for using BB Messenger on the Cingular network similar to those they charge for outgoing SMS messages? If so how much? Thanks.

BB Messenger uses PIN functionality, so yes, you do get charges if you do not have unlimited data, as it uses data, not sms.

p_dizzon, there are no charges for PIN messages as long as you have a data plan..

Guys/Gals...

I have a TMO 7290, been doing BES Admin for about 5 years now.. Was a big contributor over at RimRoad...

Anyways...

Just wondering if any of you had seen my situation before... I am using BB Messenger, and can add contacts, etc etc... I can SEND messages to other users via BB Messenger and they receive them, yet when they reply back, I never get it.

I have done everything I can think of...

Reloaded OS
Wiped - Then Reloaded OS
Downgraded OS
Reinstalled BB Messenger 10 times
Removed/Re-Added my BES Account
Resent Policy
Sacrificed a Chicken
Gave up my first born

Nothing seems to work. I have a few users on TMO with the same exact device running the same exact OS version and theirs work fine.

Anyone ever see this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks
Greg

Have them send a regular PIN message to you...do they get a delivery notification? Do you get any messages on the screen of your BB when they send a regular PIN message? Something to the effect of "decryption failure, please regenerate encryption key"? Is it ANY other BB user? or are all these people in the same company (a company different than yours)?
