Question Delivery confirmation for <confirm> ?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

After reading some blog/white papers, I tried sending an email with the word "<confirm>" in the subject. I did get the "Blackberry Delivery Confirmation" email (and the <confirm> email was in the inbox of the handheld)

Does anyone know if it is the handheld, that sends back an actual email with the "Blackberry Delivery Confirmation" subject (or is it BES)?

The objective is to figure out if the "<confirm>" and the "Blackberry Delivery Confirmation" acknowledgement is truly round trip from the device or not. It will ensure that my blackberry device is not only able to receive emails, but also able to send emails.

Any feedback/thoughts/ideas/comments are welcome.

Thanks,
Annu

Thanks for the reply. That does make sense.

However, the "Blackberry Delivery Confirmation" email does not show up in the sent items of my blackberry. If it was being sent by the blackberry device, then shouldn't it show up in the sent items folder? (or is it a special email that is not kept in the sent item)

Regards,
Annu

I don't understand why it matters... Pending messages on the BES are only reduced when the handheld confirms delivery.

Even if its not the handheld sending the message, the BES would only send it on receipt on the handhelds confirm message to that BES.

Although I do think it the handheld that sends the message.

I am trying to get the "Round trip" time for the emails [<confirm> to Delivery confirmation].
Hence, the idea is to ensure that emails are flowing to and from the handheld and also to understand how much time it is taking both ways.

If the Delivery Confirmation is not coming from the handheld, then I am not sure about the "return trip" [if the handheld is able to send the email].
If the handheld does send the email back then it is clear the the user is able to send and receive messages.

thanks,
Annu
