Did I miss a blog entry somewhere? Since when is AT&T buying up Verizon coverage areas?

I'd be pretty ticked off if I was suddenly switched to another carrier - especially AT&T and their crappy network.

I just moved to VZW last month from ATT. I'll be pretty highly pissed if they move my back against my will.

I believe that this occurred during the Verizon acquisition of Alltel.

Yep, Verizon was required to divest itself of those markets for whatever reasons by the FCC as part of the Altell buy up.

Wirelessly posted

There was a new member a week or two ago that mentioned wanting to stay on Alltel so this wouldn't happen to him/her. Now I understand what he/she was talking about. Didn't make sense to me at the time.

When acquisitions of assets occur like this normally you are given the option to migrate to the new company or be released from existing contract without penalty! This occurred in VA when ATT bought out SunCom in this area! Read all mail you get because that is how you will be notified and generally given 30 days to inform the new provider failure to respond generally means you agree to be their customer
